Our bike fitting process aims to find your best position.

We’ll work with you to understand what this looks like and define a fit that will help you to achieve your goals.

We believe in data driven bike fitting so our process builds on research which has validated longterm improvements in rider comfort and reductions in overuse type injuries.

Bramblers were the first venue in Scotland to offer true 3D motion-capture bike fitting when we opened in 2019 and are still amongst a small handful of locations globally to offer bike fitting with this level of precision. Working with Bioracer Motion, we can offer more accurate positional data than any other bike fitting system on the market.

Our bike fitting process aims to find your best position. We’ll work with you to understand what this looks like and define a fit that will help you to achieve your goals. The bottom line is this: we’re committed to offering the best possible service. If we can't improve your bike fit, we'll reinstate your original position and refund your appointment.

Bike Fitting
process

Throughout our first five years in business, we’ve refined our bike fitting process. Thousands of hours of recordings, conversations, observations and adjustments have informed these decisions.

First Appointment (2-3 hours)

Bioracer Motion Marker Placement

Whether you’re looking to improve the fit of your current frame or get sized up for something new; road, triathlon, mountain bike, commuter or otherwise, all of our appointments start with the same process (and a coffee).

We’ll discuss your goals for the session before a short warm-up on the bike. With your goals in mind, we’ll work through a basic movement assessment in order to better understand any physical limitations that could prevent you from achieving your optimal position.

Following this, we’ll record positional data for your appointment with our motion capture system and saddle pressure map to validate any changes made during your appointments.

Based on this information, we’ll set out suggested positional or component changes as well as a plan to resolve any physical limitations ahead of your second appointment.

If you’re planning on buying a new bike, then we’ll use the first session to find your best position using our adjustable fit bike, which can then be translated onto your new frame before your second appointment.

This appointment allows for fitting of up to two bikes so we can ensure consistency across the bikes your ride most frequently. For riders competing across more than two disciplines, we recommend booking any additional bikes in as individual follow-up appointments.

second appointment (1-2 hours)

Bike Fitting Knee Marker

Our bike fit bookings include two appointments as standard.

This follow-up process is a crucial part of our accountability to our customers and allows time for feedback on any changes made during the first appointment. In this way, it also helps to ensure the durability of any changes made during your first appointment as your riding position can change under conditions of fatigue which can be hard to replicate outside of competition.

For time trialists or triathletes, we often use the second appointment to develop cues for refining your aero posture using our Bioracer Aero virtual wind tunnel which can simulate changes in wind resistance when connected to our turbo trainer.

Follow-UP Appointments (1 hour)

2020_0219_14370200.jpg

We recommend that most cyclists follow up with us within 18 months of their bike fit. Follow-up appointments within this timeframe are charged at a reduced rate of £50.

With a change in goals, equipment or even a new bike, regular follow-up helps to prevent injury and make sure that you are always in the best possible position to achieve your cycling goals.

“Innes at Bramblers provided a highly professional service during my recent bike fit. From the moment that I arrived, he provided superb customer service. Innes spent time exploring my cycling history, goals and previous injuries (over a delicious coffee)! He then expertly adjusted my cycling position, using a ‘jig’ and devices to capture my motion in 3D, improving my cycling efficiency. Further to this, Innes was able to use a saddle pressure sensor and moulded insoles, recommended a saddle to maximise my comfort. Additionally, Innes provided a tailored exercise programme. I am already starting to see increases in my mobility! Innes ’extensive knowledge and passion for bike fitting, CrossFit, mobility and physiotherapy is impressive.
